A solemn ceremony of laying a capsule for the construction of the 4.3 million cubic metre detention pond “Uch-Korgon” in Ton district, Issyk-Kul region took place within the framework of the IsDB financed Irrigated Agriculture Development Project in Issyk-Kul and Naryn Regions.
The event was attended by Almazbek Sokoev, Director of the Water Resources Service, the leading specialists of the Ministry, Head of Issyk-Kul region – Ulan Daliev, as well as representatives of local authorities and residents.
The purpose of detention pond construction is to ensure water supply to all irrigated lands by regulating the non-renewable flow of the Ton River. As a result, water supply of 4 thousand 113 hectares of irrigated lands will be increased and 817 hectares of new irrigated lands of four aiyl okmotu – Tort-Kul, Kun-Chygysh, Mambetov Bolot and Ton will be developed. Completion of construction works is scheduled for December 2025.
The implementation of this project will have a positive impact on agriculture in the region, improving farm welfare and stimulating the development of the socio-economic sector in the region.
