The Kyrgyz Republic applied for financing in the amount of US$ 50.0 million from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Saudi Fund for Development (“SFD”) toward the cost of the Irrigated Agriculture Development in Issyk-Kul and Naryn Regions Project and it intends to apply part of proceeds to finance payments under contract for consultants to assist the Project Executing Agency – Water Resources Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic during the project implementation for project detailed engineering design review, development of bidding documentation, assistance in procurement and supervision of construction of works, as well as overall support to the project Executing
Agency in project management.

The project aims a) to improve the living standards of the rural population through sustainable agricultural development and water management with adaptation to climate change, b) to increase economic returns in the value chain for rural residents by expanding integration and market links, c) to improve water management through investments in the collection and storage of surface runoff and irrigation infrastructure to improve irrigation on the existing 14,600 ha of arable land and the development of new 6,000 ha of irrigated land.
